Gaffney A. Jarrell was raised in Atlanta, where she studied at the Alliance Theatre Company. She is a self-taught artist. Atlanta knows her as the “Heartist” because of her abstract painted hearts. In 2010 she replaced her hearts with brightly colored abstract landscapes. Gaffney was chosen as “Female Artist of the Year” in 2011 by Belle Magazine. Most recently, Gaffney was included in the book “Artists Among Us”, highlighting 100 of Spartanburg’s local artists.

New Idea
Well, they didn't like the first attempt. They were going with a circle and square theme, so I created a grid on a 4 foot by 4 foot canvas, and here is what I came up with.
Commissioned Art
I was commissioned by a local hotel to create some pieces for their common area. They didn't want to give me a deposit and so I decided to take the job anyway with the outcome being a new body of work along with a paycheck!! I used a material swatch and chose four colors they were using in their color scheme throughout the lobby. This was was first piece I did for them.
